Auditory Decay Tinnitis

Hearing Impairment Ears Ring

Ringing in the Ears is an affliction that often is associated with hearing failure. Identified by a ringing or rustling in your ears, and often a combination of both, tinnitis, while incredibly annoying and unsettling, tinnitus is not generally a chronic ailment. Almost all of those who suffer from tinnitis do have some form of hearing impairment.

Other types of hearing loss are occupational hearing loss, moderate hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss and sudden hearing loss.

Ears Ring will generally accompany sensorineural auditory lossimpairment, because this hearing impairment is the result of a type of harm to the nerves of the inner ear. With this kind of auditory loss, tinnitu is caused by broken nerve ending still generating pulses to the cerebrum through the auditory nerve, which then interprets the impulse as sound even though no sound is really present. Sometimes, wearing a hearing aid can help two afflictions simultaneously, both the auditory loss and the ear ringing, as they will mask the incessant ear ringing and buzzing sounds.

Ear Ringing could occur many months after the start of the hearing impairment, and is alarming at first. Often, an adjustment to the corrective hearing device used by those experiencing both hearing loss and tinnitis can often dramatically lower the tinnitis-related noises.

Tinnitus is not, however, only the result of auditory problemsw which means it is not invariably associate with hearing impairment. There are several other causes that could result in tinnitis. As an example, any affliction or disorder of the five parts of the auditory system can cause ear ringing.

Menieres Disease, a problem of the inner ear which causes extreme pressure on the ear resulting in extreme light headedness and hearing loss, and often causes tinnitis. Otosclerosis, a disease of the stapes, tiny bones of the inner ear, may also result in auditory impairment and ear ringing, also damage to the delicate organs of the inner and or middle ear caused by certain prescription drugs such as aspirin and many anti malarials. Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome, or TMJ, affects muscles of the head, jaw and could also result in tinnitus, however, in these cases, hearing loss does not usually result.

Trauma and injury, especially closeness to explosions and sudden, loud noises at close range, could also result in ringing in the ears, and generally hearing impairment as well. Regrettably, in these cases, both the auditory loss and the tinnitis are usually permanent.

Numerous ailments not normally associated with auditory impairment can also be responsible for tinnitis. Amongst these are anemia, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis and hypothyroidism. Normally the ringing in the ears occurs with no hearing loss; the ear ringing, however, could affect hearing capacity in most cases.

While in most cases tinnitis can't be treated, particularly when in conjunction with sensorineural auditory loss or hearing loss as part of the natural aging process, there some treatments that can minimize the symptoms thus making normal living a bit better.

Alternative treatments include tinnitus masking CD's, which hide the tinnitus noises associated with hearing impairment may also cause ringing in the ears noises with more natural sounds and white noise.
