Getting Creative With Embroidered Patches

June 17th, 2008

Embroidered patches are a common way to show an affiliation to a certain club, group, or organization. They can be commonly found, won, and bought in multiple places for cheap prices. This makes them a very accessible and inexpensive craft item in which to get creative with.

Anyone who has ever earned an embroidered patch or badge feels honored, but they don’t always have much use for them. Embroidered patches also make great decorations to quilts and pillows. Since embroidered patches can be found at garage sales and at stores, finding a large quantity of them is never a problem. Attaching sports patches, comic book character patches, and other type patches to a blanket for a small boy makes a great present at Christmas time. For girls, finding flowers or other girly embroidery items should be of equal ease to find.

Their designs were often very bold with wonderful use of color and form, think of Mayan design using turquoise and gold, or Chinese green jade. These classic looks are ever popular.

There are so many sources of inspiration, look at the fabulous beaded jewelry ads in glossy magazines, or search the Internet.
