THE CRACKER BOX INC. began in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as a craft shop, carrying many things: miniatures, dried flowers, doll house furniture/fixtures, braids, beads, filigrees, finished Christmas ornaments, specially designed wrapping papers, felt and materials by the yard, and lots of other items and, AT that TIME, of course, only a few original Christmas ornament KITS. However that changed: for the past 35 years Paul and Walter at the "Cracker Box" http://crackerboxkits.com have designed hundreds of the most beautiful Christmas Ornament kits in the world. Through their designs you can travel the world with them and see the museums of Russia, the guards of the Tower of London, the mysterious dark jade colors of Japan, the sunset in Scandinavia and the world famous opera house in New York. Wherever they travel throughout the world, Paul and Walter look at everything as an inspiration for an ornament design, from the crest on a ancient cloak to the jewels of a Russian Czar's scepter-- anything at all can possibly end up as a Cracker Box Christmas ornament kit. Once while traveling in Rio, a very provocative young stripper was performing for us. After a few requests by Walter, her husband agreed to allow us to photograph her g-string, which brought to life the ornament "Carnival in Rio". One night in Scandinavia we were walking around enjoying all the quiet scenery and the sun was just setting. We were amazed to find that it was almost midnight! As the sun kept going down, the shadows on the building changed the vibrant colors to very calming purples and lavenders now reflected into their design "Danish Sunset" http://crackerboxkits.com/danishsunset.jpg.
Every design has a story and currently they have over 223 wonderfully captivating trips for you to take with them.
During the 35 years of doing this, we have received many wonderful comments from our customers that these gems have been handed down from generation to generation. They bring every one back to a simpler life as children with the memories of seeing these on "great grandma's tree" and then "grandma's tree" and "mom's tree" while wondering when it will be their time to be able to have them adorning THEIR Christmas tree.
This is an addiction that is also traveling the world, having customers in Italy, Denmark, Japan, Germany, France and even the most unlikely of places-- the Middle East. These beauties are not just hung up for Christmas and them placed away in a box until next yea- these wonders are placed in curio cabinets, hanging from chandeliers over the dining room table durning a family dinner, adorning the mantle in the family room, placed in a large picture window for all to see and enjoy the beauty.
A therapeutic hobby: taking the ornament from a simple ball to a finished work of art requires patience and sometimes a scream here and there, " Paul, are you nuts!" . We have found from our customers that doing these has even helped deal with arthritis pain, and other ailments. Following the instructions step by step and using their fingers and joints to create these works of art takes away their pain and suffering. We keep your mind so busy it helps to forget any ailment, knowing that when the last step is done, a feeling of satisfaction comes. This work of art is now done and ready for all to enjoy.

About The Author

demonstration light and shadow makeup. What that? Toning down what may not be too attractive and highlighting what is. They moved to a 1723 fieldstone farmhouse in Bucks county Penna. After a few months a lovely lady across the road asked them over to "make Christmas Ornaments". Their answer was " what's that". A THAT is how it all started.
