In coin collecting, the condition of a coin is everything and is the key to determining its value. A coin in mint or uncirculated condition can be worth several hundred or even a thousand times more than a coin that is in extremely poor condition. In fact, some extremely rare coins can be considered priceless and have nothing to compare to. That example seems kind of obvious is is true of almost every type of collectible such as stamps, cars, baseball cards and more. Almost all collectors create systems to determine the the condition and value of a collectible.

The most common one used for coins is the one adopted by the American Numismatic Association called the Sheldon system and numbers a coin between 1 and 70, where 70 represents a perfect specimen and 1 represents a barely identifiable coin.

The generally accepted scale of for how to grade coins from highest to lowest work something like this:

* Mint State (MS) 60–70: Uncirculated
* About/Almost Uncirculated (AU) 50, 53, 55, 58
* Extremely Fine (XF or EF) 40, 4-
* Very Fine (VF) 20, 25, 30, 35
* Fine (F) 12, 15
* Very Good (VG) 8, 10
* Good (G) 4, 6
* About Good (AG) 3
* Fair (FA, FR) 2
* Poor (PR, PO) 1

As most hobbies go, collectors of coins often have a theme around which they collect. A few popular themes include:

Country collections

Collectors may find coins from every country that ever minted a coin, or they may aim to collect every coin every minted by a particular country.

Year collections

Rather than collecting one type of coin, some collectors attempt to collect every type of coin minted by year. For example, a collector might collect one Lincoln cent for every year from 1909 to the present. This is one of the most common ways to collect US currency. In fact most bookstores or coin collecting stores sell specially designed books, or coin albums, for the purpose of collecting coins by year.

Mintmark collections

A mint mark determines where a coin was minted. US currency is minted in such places as Denver, San Francisco. When you look at a Lincoln penny, for instance, near its date, is a small letter that determines where it was minted. The letter D denotes Denver. The letter S is for San Francisco. When collecting by year and mint mark, it isn't enough to collect one coin for each year, but for each year collect every coin minted.

Although computers and technology are a wonderful progress in the modern world, many parents worry if the virtual world endangers their children's natural social development. This is a legitimate problem. Other kids spend all of their spare time looking for entertainment on the web, playing video games and chatting with online friends. Kids must also indulge in actual world activities in order to develop well rounded social skills. Parents often have a hard time persuading kids that this is true. Here are some methods you could pry the kids away from the computer without any objections on their part.

Not into hobbies for kid's, what about an article on say, a Barbecue Grill. You know it's only a click away.

Whether kids would admit it or not, all kids love fun in the company of other kids their own age. The trick to encouraging hobbies for kids that they'll beg you to allow them do is to let them to lead you to the activities they enjoy. For instance, if your child has been invited by a friend to an ice skating party and your child wishes to go, develop every effort to accommodate the request. If you want to drive them, have the time to do so. This might become a weekly activity which gives healthy exercise, fun and a trip off the couch and into the real world. If your kid enjoyed swimming in grade school, but hasn't joined in years, recommend joining a swim club at the teen center or Y.

Real World Hobbies for Kids

Real world hobbies for kids that develop social skills needn't be sports-connected. Playing chess, sewing, wood working and art are all better examples. Whenever kids get interactive social relationships with their peers, such activities assist establish confidence, self esteem and a better understanding of themselves and others.

Misunderstandings that might happen in online relationships are generally not resolved satisfactorily. Kids tend to just shut that person out. Real world hobbies for kids which demands face to face conversation are much likely to be resolved with some diplomacy and compromise. The real companion is more essential than someone they can't see and don't understand personally.

Yet other best hobbies for kids like painting, making models, stamp collecting and crafts. Hobbies which consist using their hands to express themselves or create something artistic are excellent ways to allow kids see that technology doesn't hold all the answers. Taking summer classes and workshops sets them in a group of their peers.

Though your kids will not seemingly give up their net activities and virtual friends, they'll also be unlikely to give up their new hobbies with kids in the neighborhood.

Don't try to push kids into activities they don't zest. There are enough they would enjoy, if you give them half an opportunity and a gentle, low-profile push in the exact direction.
