Collecting figurines is a hobby enjoyed by people of all ages. One especially popular type of figurine among collectors are angel figurines. These are among the most commonly produced figurines, making them easy to find. Collecting angel figurines can be a bit addictive - just any collector, many of whom have more than 100 different figurines in their collection!

It can be a little hard to stop collecting angel figurines once you start; ask anyone who collects these delightful figurines; many collectors have more than a hundred figurines in their collections!

You can get angel figurines in different sizes, types and styles. As with any other collectible figurines, the smaller figurines tend to be less expensive. Children are especially fond of these smaller figurines and these are usually those chosen by children, who enjoy collecting them as well. Angel figurines also make great graduation, birthday and holiday gifts for children.

To many, angels represent love, happiness and heaven. A guardian angel protects you from coming to harm; similarly, angel figurines can give you a feeling of security and are commonly seen as symbols of protection. You should choose angel figurines which you get a good, warm feeling from. When looking at angel figurines, most collectors look closely at the face of the figurine. A face which is poorly painted can make the entire figurine look bad. Angel figurines are available in various designs, poses and even engaged in just about any activity y9ou can think of - you can get singing angels, skiing angels, even angels playing baseball!

People who collect angel figurines have to choose how to display their collection. A lot of collectors like to display their collections in a prominent place in their home, sometimes in a glass case or mantelpiece. If yours is a large collection though, you might put them throughout your home instead. Since angels look good no matter where you decide to put them in your home, go ahead and be creative! They will be attractive anywhere that you decide to place them.

There are collectors who just can't stop at only a few angel figurines; angels symbolize goodwill and protection, so collectors often like to have many of them in their home. Once you start, it can get a little bit addictive! You'll start seeing angel figurines everywhere you go: flea markets, tag sales and of course, on the web!

When you're looking for angel figurines, keep in mind that these figurines will be with you for a very long time - be sire to pick angel figurines which have a strong appeal for you.

In Digital photography, enhancement is very helpful to help you edit your pictures. Sometimes an original looks so bad, it appears as if nothing can be done to help it. Not true! A couple commonly used enhancements are angle correction of slanted pictures and barrel and pincushion correction. The angle correction basically defines itself in the title. If the picture is slightly titled then the angle correction enhancement will help it out quite a bit. One thing the tool needs to have is anti-aliasing. Barrel and pincushion correction is used to fix slanted horizons that were caused by the camera being used to zoom up as far is could go. These enhancements are used mainly for generally annoying changes that some people wouldn't even notice unless it was dramatic, but are useful nonetheless.

Today, one of the most commonly used tools is resizing a photograph. What is less heard of is re-sampling. What is the difference? Well resizing is just changing the pixels, while resample is using an actual algorithm to fix the picture so that is appears not blurry, fuzzy, blocked when it is changed. With resizing to enlarge a picture some of the pixels will be doubled. While with resizing, reducing an image some of the pixels will be thrown out; this why some lines of the photo just disappear. Re-sampling on the contrary, uses algorithms to decide the new size of the pixels, during an enlargement color will be added as a result of interpolation. While reducing an image the actual pixels will be re-calculated. A good image editor will include multiple algorithms for re-sampling and resizing options.

When you are editing your images you are going to want to change the format and the size of the image altogether. There are two types of compressing images. One is the Lossy compressing style. This is more the conservative image compressor, it takes up the least space and is easily uploaded to the web or to an email program. Generally this will save in the .jpg format, one of the most commonly seen everywhere. Lossless on the other hand has the disadvantage of not being able to choose the size you want the image. However, you will be able keep a smaller image of the original version. Common to its name, lossless compressions do not lose any part of the image. The format this compression normally saves to is .png though it can save to a bmp or rle which are less common formats. In the end which one you choose is up to whether you don't care about the original image or you really care and don't want anything lost, your pic.

When it comes to viewing images, having a good image viewer is essential to the image master and beginner. Having the ability to access and edit your photos is important and helpful for someone in the digital photography business and hobby. A couple of acceptable viewers would be Photophila and Zoner Photo Studio. These two are user friendly and have photo enhancement abilities, zoom function, batch processor, and it is easy to add photos to the database. They both can manage EXIF data have slide show and edition options. Be careful when choosing a photo viewer it is quite important for the digital photographer.

Batch imaging software is helpful when you want to have a lot of tasks all lined up and completed without interruption. It is nice when you have a whole bunch of images you want to be resized and don't want to do it all manually. This is exactly what the batch image software is good at. E.g. You want to resize an assortment of photos to be 500 x 400, add a signature and compress them all to be 12kb. It is pretty simple to run most of the batch processors, decide what you want done, in put the commands, select the images and run the batch processor. Let it run as long as it takes, all done! A strategy to batch processing is putting all the images you want in a specific directory and then telling the program where it all is, not selecting all the images individually. There are a bunch of programs out there for batch processing, choose the one that has all the functions you want it to do, try to get something that isn't just the bare minimum.

A handy tool to have if you don't intend to collect thousands of pictures is a digital photo album. This is handy because you can add descriptions and make sure you get a nice looking album for people to look at. This is different from a photo view because it actually stores all the photos no matter where they are located. The program will actually go and find all your photos. This would not be recommended if you have more than 2,000 photos because if a file gets corrupted you could lose all your pictures. An online viewer would actually be useful because then after you used a batch processor you could upload them all to the site and have just as nice of an album online. In the end it is up to you whether even want an album in the first place.

Want to know what other people are asking? Check these out: Q: I am looking for a way to make a contact sheet of several photos and include the EXIF data with the photos. Do you know of a easy way to do this ? A: A convenient software to do this is Zoner Photo Studio. More details on how to do it at How to date photo and print them with EXIF. Q: I am trying to find software that will allow me to print two pictures per page, with the embedded date &time from the camera. A: You need a software that is able to print "contact sheets" together with a selection of the EXIF data of your photos. A convenient one is Zoner Photo Studio. More details on how to do it at How to date photo and print them with EXIF.

When constructing your own karaoke program library, there are a number of particular factors you must look out for when choosing the correct karaoke CDs and DVDs. The greatest thing to remember is always make sure your karaoke system can cover the right data formatting of the CDs or DVDs that you are purchasing.

While nearly all karaoke systems are able to address most formats, and most karaoke Cd Discs and Dvd / Cdg Discs work on most systems, it is advisable to double check to ascertain that your buys will not be done in waste. If using a more state-of-the-art karaoke system, virtually all are able to manage almost all formats karaoke Cd Discs and Dvd Discs, but by working through the formatting it will handle it will make sure you are not frustrated when it does not function. By simply double-checking, you can set your mind at ease and be convinced that your purchase will function without a headache.

If you are purchasing karaoke cd discs and dvds for the first time, make sure you pick the ones that you know will be utilized. While most individuals would like to have a full library that embraces all music styles and musical genres, it can become superfluous to buy a number of tracks that you have no interest in ever singing.

It is smarter to hunt for karaoke disks that have what you are searching for. In this aspect ascertain that your purchase will be put to good use instead of just collecting dust. Notwithstanding if you are somebody who is incessantly throwing karaoke events or inviting acquaintances over to enjoy your karaoke system, please ascertain that your titles comprises a massive spectrum of best-selling karaoke songs.

There is nothing bad in having your personalized collection that is suited specifically to your tastes, but if you are a massive fan of country and your acquaintances completely loves the blues, it will cause your party to be a little lacklustre.

Lastly, what you have to keep in mind when determining what karaoke Cd Discs and Dvd Discs you are buying is what you will get the most use out of. If you're aspiring to be the next American Idol, then look for unique titles that hold tracks that you will sing, but if you require to use your karaoke system for a bit of social pleasure, look at collections or karaoke Cd Discs that address a universal range of songs. That way, everybody can join in the fun of karaoke singing

The easiest way to fix an overexposed photo is to open it in Photoshop and choose Image> Adjustments> Shadow/Highlight (CS-only. For pre-CS look below). You'll see an immediate change in your photo and it will probably be too extreme, but just use this setting as a starting point. Photoshop ships with defaults that are often way over the top. Just play with the Amount Slider and the Tonal Width Slider in both the Shadows and the Highlights until you find just the right balance. And that's it!

Fixing Overexposed Photos, Pre-CS - The Layer Sandwich Trick If you don't have CS, then the following trick will help you achieve similar results.

Step 1 - New Layer Open your photo and make a copy of the Background Layer by choosing Layer - Duplicate Layer, or by dragging it to the New Layer Icon at the bottom of the Layers palette.

Step 2 - Change The Blend Mode Change the Blend Mode of the new layer from Normal to Multiply in the Layers palette to uniformly darken the photo.

Step 3 - Repeat Now repeat the entire process again. Create a new layer, change the blend mode to multiply, and watch the result. Continue doing this over and over until you go from "it's almost just right" to "it's awful!"

Step 4 - Lower The Opacity Now leave that last layer active even though it is much too extreme and lower the Opacity using the slider at the top right of the layers palette. This will lower the power of the effect. Once you've found the right amount, you can flatten your image.

Step 5 - Flatten And Save Choose Layer> Flatten or use the palette's flyout menu and choose Flatten Image. That's it. Save your file (File> Save) and you're done.

People looking to play guitar is on the increase thanks to rock becoming popular again. Many of those dreaming of becoming the next guitar god will be looking to find the best way to learn guitar. Here then I have outlined the methods that are available.

There are thousands of books which will show you how to play guitar some better than others. Although some books are brilliantly written and easy to follow they tend to have a lower success rate than other methods. If you are a patient type of person however a book could be right for you.

Another method of learning to play the guitar is to learn by ear. This isn't for everyone but for those that can pick it up this way they will find it a lot more fun and more satisfying than learning through any other method.

Private lessons are by far the most expensive and time consuming way of learning guitar but they are also the most successful so in many respects they are the best way to learn guitar. If you have the cash and the time to dedicate then this method is highly recommended.

The final method of learning to play the guitar is to use videos. These are becoming a very popular way of learning as they feel more personal than books and they of course make it easy to explain things in a simple step by step method. The only thing they really lack is the feedback which can be gained from a personal teacher.

If you have the cash and are dedicated enough to put in the time and effort then a private tutor is probably the best way to learn guitar. Apart from that I would highly recommend videos but in the end it all will boil down to what you prefer.

With all of the advances in digital technology, digital photo can now be viewed almost anywhere through any medium. Most of the time however, you are going to want to print out your photos, typically on standard paper sizes like 4X6 or 5X7. But what should you do if you have that special photo that you want to make an enlargement of? Print enlargement quality is based on your digital camera mega pixels figure. Let's look at how

There is a certain resolution normally expressed as pixels in every digital photo that you take. The number of pixels can be referred to as one number or sometimes as two numbers; the first depicting the number of pixels over the X axis and the second the number of the Y axis. These two numbers are multiplied together to provide the total number of pixels in the photo.

You are printing these digital pixels onto paper each time you print a digital photo. If the paper size is big relative to the photo resolution, the quality of the print will be poor. Poor quality is often seen by pixelization or the ability to actually see the individual pixels on the print.

That leads us to the question of how do you determine the largest print possible from a particular digital photo? There really is no one exact answer. Not only do the number of pixels help determine photo quality, other factors such as how much detail is in the photo or what the lighting were also play a role. Even the number of pixels can be argued as different people have different views on what is acceptable print quality.

A rough assessment of what comprises a good print quality is based on the pixels density or in other words the number of pixels per inch on the printed photo. This is also known as PPI (pixels per inch) and it represents the number of pixels over an axis line.

The following qualities are usually linked with a specific PPI number:

PPI 100 - fair to bad

PPI 200 - good

PPI 300 and up - very good

The next reasonable step would be to determine how many mega pixels are needed for good quality printing on a specific paper size. Calculating this number is very easy. All you need to do is to simply multiply the page length by its width in inches, resulting in the number of square inches on the page. Now multiply this number by the square of the PPI number and the result is the number of pixels on the page which is the number of pixels we want our source photo to have. Here are the numbers calculated for some common sizes (for 100,200 and 300 PPI respectively):

4X6 0.24MP 1MP 2MP

5X7 0.35MP 1.5MP 3MP

page 8X10 0.8MP 3MP 7MP

page 11X14 1.5MP 6MP 14MP

page 16X20 3MP 12MP 28MP

page 20X30 6MP 24MP 54MP

This table is just an estimation of what is considered a fitting number of mega pixels for different paper sizes. When making enlargements, there are many other factors to consider. Try experimenting with different paper sizes, but be careful as this can get expensive. And remember that there are always exceptions to the rules. Sometimes what is considered poor quality pixelization can actually result in a nice artistic effect in your enlargement. What it comes down to is that while the above calculation helps, common sense and experience are needed to match a particular digital photo to its best possible enlargement size.

Do you have a hidden beekeeper waiting to be unleashed on the inside of you? If you are where I was, then you may be interested in getting started as a beekeeper, but you may be wondering if it is right for you. I considered this same question.

Five years ago, I would have never even thought that I would have even been remotely interested in becoming a beekeeper. I never even understood why someone would even want to harvest bees. Let alone why they would want to raise them in their own backyard.

Despite this, I decided to get started beekeeping. I soon discovered that beekeeping can be an enjoyable hobby which can lead to a lucrative business. Prior to starting, you may want to begin analyzing whether or not raising bees is something that fits into your goals and personality.

Beekeeping is an outdoor activity and thus requires that you have a personality that enjoys working outside. Gardeners would be a prime candidate as beginning beekeepers since most of them enjoy working outside and have a love for nature.

To be successful at beekeeping does require that you have the ability to cultivate the development of other living things no matter how small. Beekeeping may be a good fit for you if you have a love for the development of all creatures. An example is how successful gardeners help to grow their plants through the special nurture and care that they provide. This quality is significant to the role that you play as a beekeeper.

The science behind bees is so fascinating. If you enjoy learning about the biological development of other living creatures, then beekeeping may be a good fit for you. Through beekeeping, you will get to learn the habits of bees and their biological makeup. It will open your mind to a whole new world for you to discover.

You will become a part of a growing group of beekeepers. The shortage of bees has caused a lot of "buzz" on the subject of backyard beekeeping. Bees are vital to the life of our plants and flowers. This is a growing market for those who are looking at beekeeping as hobby or as a business.

There are countless reasons why you could consider being a beekeeper. Before beginning, it is recommended that you analyze whether this is an area that you want to explore. Once you have decided to proceed, you will probably need some assistance to get started successfully.

The Photoshop plug-ins which are available can help perform tasks much faster and more efficiently than performing these tasks by hand. The 3D plug-ins are used to create 3D images and type very quickly and elegantly. The color management Photoshop plug-ins can create new colors to correspond to the printer that you are using, or the monitor that you are using to create your graphics. The digital asset management plug-ins are used to organize all of the digital images that you have created so that finding the correct image is much easier than without it. The photographic ones give many different professional lens techniques that you can apply to any picture to create amazing effects.

In the camera world there are dozens of formats, each format has something unique and some are more common than others. DNG (Digital Negative) Camera companies have introduced many different, and frequently changing, raw file formats. For example, one source states that there are over 140 RAW formats with more coming-some of them specific to a single camera model. On top of this, manufacturers are often pointlessly secretive about their specifications so there are almost always RAW files your software can't read-at least until someone reverse engineers the formats so they can support them. This lag time and inconvenience can be laid at the doorstep of the camera companies. These proprietary RAW files are at risk over time since companies come and go and interest waxes and wanes. One solution to this growing problem is a new Adobe format called the Digital Negative (.DNG). This publicly defined and openly shared format for RAW files is an attempt to ensure that you will be able to access your image files in the future. If your camera doesn't capture RAW images in this format, you can convert them to DNG using a program such as Photoshop or Lightroom. When you do so, you can even choose to store the original RAW image inside its DNG file so you can extract it at some future date should you need it. The DNG format is supported by Photoshop and other Adobe products, some other software companies, and a number of camera companies. As with all things in computing, only time will tell if the format becomes widely accepted or gradually fades away.

Image files are huge compared to many other types of computer files. For example, files captured by a 12 Megapixel camera can range up to 18 Megabytes. As resolutions continue to increase, so will file sizes. To make image files smaller and more manageable, digital cameras use a process called compression. During compression, data that is duplicated or that has little value is eliminated or saved in a shorter form, to reduce a file's size. For example, if large areas of the sky are the same shade of blue, only the value for one pixel needs to be saved along with the locations of the other pixels with the same color.

When choosing between JPEG and RAW formats, here are some things to consider about each format. Because you can't easily add pixels and retain image quality, or remove the effects of compression after the fact, it's usually best to use the largest available JPEG size and the least compression available. If you have to reduce either, you can do so later using a photo-editing program. If you shoot the image at a lower quality setting, you can never really improve it much or get a large, sharp print if you want one. The only problem with this approach is that higher quality images have larger file sizes. RAW images are always captured at the largest file size, and any compression used is lossless. Images in this format used to require an extra processing step but since the latest programs such as Aperture and Lightroom were designed from the ground up after RAW formats were introduced they handle them as easily as they handle JPEGs.

If you use operating system tools or applications to look at a storage device in the camera or card reader, you will find it is listed like the other drives on your system. If it contains more than one folder, the one photographers care about is named DCIM (for Digital Camera IMages). If you delete this folder, the camera will recreate it (but not any images it contained). The purpose of this folder, called the image root directory, is to keep together all of the images you capture with the camera. If you use the same card with other devices, there may also be other folders on the same card holding MP3 music or other files.

When an image is saved, the camera assigns it a filename and stores it in the current folder. Filenames have two parts, an 8-character filename and a 3-character extension. Think of them as first and last names. The name is unique to each file, and the extension, separated from the name by a period, identifies the file's format. For example, a JPG extension means it's a JPEG image file, TIF means it's a TIFF image file.

IPTC: Using an image management application, you can add information to an image such as keywords, a copyright notice, or a caption. The problem is that when you send the image to someone else, that information is usually not sent along because it's stored on your computer in the database and is not part of the image file as Exif information is. (As you will see shortly, one solution to this problem is the xmp file.) To solve this problem, the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) defines a format for exchanging such information. Programs that support this standard let you add, edit, and view this information that's embedded in a file just as Exif information is.
